We are passionate about yarn and about knitting. But Feel Good Yarn may never have come to be if there hadn't been a pandemic and a third--really long--lockdown. With the spring 2021 shutdown came time to take online courses to learn the dyeing process and the opportunity to experiment and ultimately determine that we could replicate colourways to produce a reliable product that knitters, crocheters, and weavers would enjoy.
We then tried a few different yarn bases and ultimately settled on two from a Canadian supplier of non-mulesed, ethically sourced wool that feel great and that we think fellow crafters will enjoy. (We are in the process of seeking out other weights of wool and possibly some in other fibres.)
The name Feel Good Yarn was born of our love for our adoptive hometown, Cobourg, which has earned the nickname "Ontario's Feel Good Town." We wanted to honour the place we feel so fortunate to call home.
The names for our colourways are inspired by the music we love--the rock classics of the '60s, '70s, and '80s. So whether you love hand-dyed yarn or you have a favourite classic rock band or song, we hope you will check it out! And as you cast on a new project with our yarn, stream the song that is its namesake, and we hope it will inspire you, too!
Feel Good Yarn is available exclusively at Yarn It! in Cobourg, Ontario.
