In the morning, enjoy a short talk and slideshow about Shetland Wool Week and some of the techniques Jen and I learned there, followed by a fun exercise in choosing colours for Fair Isle projects the Shetland-designer way. You will hear what we learned the difference is between stranded colourwork and Fair Isle knitting--from the very knitters and designers working to keep the Fair Isle tradition alive.
We will then break for a yummy high-tea lunch catered by the Lass & Ladle of Grafton. Those of you who've attended before know that this lunch itself is worth the price of admission!
After lunch, we will enjoy together time among friends in the knitting circle and/or shopping for yarn for your next Fair Isle knit!
There will not be any knitting done in this workshop, but do bring whatever project you want to work on in the circle. If you are inclined to swatch some Fair Isle in this free knitting time, you may want to have 3 mm to 3.5 mm needles with you. We will be playing with Baa Ram Ewe Pip yarn.
