Entrelac is a moderately advanced knitting technique that creates a basketweave pattern. It can be equal measures of fun and challenging while learning but in the end is incredibly satisfying. (After finishing my first entrelac bag, I immediately made two more because...fun!)
Susan Rainey, the designer of this 3-in-1 pattern, introduces some unique innovations on entrelac, including eliminating the triangle base.
In the first class, we will get started making the bag, and you will learn the techniques needed to create entrelac rectangles. In the second class, you will learn this designer's innovative short-row technique for making the triangles to create a flush top.
You will learn:
- provisional cast-on
- entrelac technique
- picking up stitches
- wrap-and-turn short rows
- i-cord bind-off
You will need:
- 3 skeins of worsted weight 100% untreated wool (at least 50 g of each)
- 5.5 mm circular needles and double-pointed needles
- 5 mm double-pointed needles
- crochet hook (3.5 to 4.5 mm)
- waste yarn
- locking stitch markers
