This is the perfect class for those who want to learn Fair Isle knitting! In this three-session workshop, you will learn:
- How to knit in the round using double-pointed needles and a 24-inch circular needle (or two circular needles)
- How to increase and decrease stitches
- How to work with multiple colours in each row
- How to felt wool in a washing machine
Students should know knitting basics (how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off) and should be comfortable working with 100% wool.
In the first session, we will discuss colour choice and teach you how to work in the round and increase stitches. The second session will cover changing colours and carrying the floats. And in the final session, you will learn how to create the handles and how to felt the bag.
The pattern and one ball of 100% untreated wool are included in the cost of the class. An additional full ball and four partial balls of wool are needed. (We are happy to help facilitate wool sharing to bring the cost down.) Students will need 5 mm needles (or 5.5 mm for tight knitters).
