All those worn toes in your socks can be beautifully repaired with a few tools and a technique up your sleeve (even if you have a broken wrist, as it turns out!). In this practical workshop, you will learn to reinforce worn spots with duplicate stitch on the knit side and duplicate stitch on the purl side and also how to repair a hole invisibly with Swiss darning technique: preparing and stabilizing the hole, first row, main repair and last row darning.
What you need:
- A swatch (solid colour sport or DK yarn) to practice on that you are comfortable cutting a hole into
- Contrast yarn of the same weight
- Tapestry needle to suit your yarn choice
- Darning mushroom/egg and elastic or a small embroidery hoop to stabilize the swatch
