Love the Ranunculus sweater by Midori Hirose but too intimidated to get it started? We want to help you gain the confidence and learn the skills you need to create this beautiful and enduringly popular top for yourself!

We will meet at 5 p.m. on June 20, when you will learn either (or both) of the cast-on methods. From that point on, you will have the support you need at 5 p.m. every day of this week to continue at your own pace through the knitting of the yoke. The techniques you may learn include:

  • Double twist loop cast-on
  • Provisional tubular cast-on
  • Knit through the back loop
  • Right lifted increase
  • German short rows
  • One-move SSK
  • Cable cast-on
  • Lori's twisty bind-off

Ranunculus is an amazingly versatile sweater. It can be knit in a summer yarn such as linen or cotton or a winter yarn such as Suri alpaca or mohair. You can knit it cropped or hip-length. With short sleeves or long. And in any weight of yarn from fingering (to wear with a tank top) to worsted (no tank top needed!). The pattern was published in 2017, and it has nearly constantly appeared in Ravelry's Top 20 list over the past two years. 

So if it's time for you to get on the Ranunculus bandwagon and you would feel more comfortable jumping on with a supportive group knitting it along with you, there's no time like the present!
