On Saturday, our flight to Glasgow was leaving at 11:30ish in the morning, giving us a bit of a leisurely morning.
Although I'm not typically an earlybird, I was wide awake at 6:45, and since I saw the skies were lightening without a lot of cloud cover, I snuck quietly out of the flat down to the end of the street to watch the sunrise. I walked a little farther than I needed to since it was taking it's time, but I was back to the right spot by the time the sun came up around 7:20. It was a beautiful morning, without a lot of wind, and a beautiful view!

Once Jen was up and we'd showered, packed, and eaten the last of our groceries for breakfast, we ventured out to do the Lerwick Coastal Walk. Here are some of our final views of Shetland.

All in all, Jen and I really enjoyed our Shetland Wool Week experience. Here are a few takeaways (in case we consider doing it again!):
- The classes are quite costly for what they are. Next time, we would likely take only the "must do in Shetland" classes.
- We didn't participate in some of the free or inexpensive events because we didn't have the time in our schedule; however, we heard the knit nights with the locals were great, as were some of the talks. We'd take the time for these events.
- We would focus more on tours than classes. Visiting the farms and crofts and just driving around the island were truly the highlights (other than the yarn shopping itself!).
- The restaurants are kept so warm for such a wool-wearing culture! Layers are definitely the way to go!
- Our location was ideal for Wool Week. Staying right in Lerwick, within walking distance to nearly everything, is a must if we go back for SWW.
- We don't need to bring many projects with us--we ended up with so little knitting time that two projects never even left my suitcase!

Hi Catherine,
I really enjoyed reading your SWW blog. Thank you for sharing your experiences and photographs of your trip.
